Biographical Presentation
Chladni: Karl Gottfried Theodor Ch. (Chladenius), sächsischer Jurist, Enkel des Theologen Martin Ch., geb. 22. Juli 1759 zu Großenhain, wo sein Vater, Dr. Theodor Ch., Amts- und Landphysicus war, † ebenda 25. Mai 1837. Er besuchte die Fürstenschule zu Meißen, studirte in Leipzig die Rechte und wurde zuerst Accessist, dann Actuar zu Weißenfels und Nossen, worauf er sich 1782 in seiner Vaterstadt der Advocatur widmete. 1784 als königl. Generalaccisinspector angestellt, wurde er 1789 zum Rathsmitgliede, später zum Bürgermeister gewählt. 1821 trat er als Bürgermeister, 1831 als Accisinspector in den Ruhestand. Am 15. Octbr. 1832 feierte er sein 50jähriges Jubiläum als Advocat. Außer ein paar Schauspielen veröffentlichte er verschiedene populäre und gemeinnützige Schriften, namentlich auf dem Gebiete der Justiz und städtischen Verwaltungskunde. Auch um die Geschichte seiner Vaterstadt machte er sich verdient durch seine „Materialien zur Großenhainer Stadtchronik“ (1788), sowie durch eine ausführlichere handschriftliche Stadtchronik.
