  • Biographical Presentation

    A., Mönch in Corvey - wo er wohl auch die Schule besuchte -, schrieb etwa 876 die Prosavita der 874 verstorbenen Äbtissin Hathmod von Gandersheim (sie war wahrscheinlich seine Schwester) und fügte den „Dialogus“ (in 359 metrischen Distichen) hinzu, der zu den anziehendsten Werken des 9. Jahrhunderts gehört. Auf Veranlassung Bischof Rimberts von Hamburg-Bremen erläuterte er 864 komputistische Tafeln mit hexametrischen Versen und fügte eine Widmung in 23 Distichen hinzu. Mit dem Poeta Saxo darf er wohl nicht gleichgesetzt werden.
