Biographical Presentation
Eckardt: Johann Ludwig v. E., Rechtsgelehrter, geb. 9. Dec. 1732 zu Coburg von bürgerlichen Eltern, † 22. Dec. 1800 in Jena. Auf dem Casimirianum zu Coburg vorgebildet, besuchte er 1752—1755 die Universität Jena, ward 1756 Advocat, 1758 Syndicus in seiner Vaterstadt und erwarb 1759 in Jena die juristische Doctorwürde. 1778 ging er als Hof- und Regierungsrath und geheimer Archivar nach Weimar, 1783 nach Jena als erster Professor der Rechte, Ordinarius der Juristenfacultät, Beisitzer des Hofgerichts und Deputatus praelaturae der Weimarischen Landschaft mit dem Charakter eines geheimen Hofraths. 1792 wurde er geadelt. Außer verschiedenen akademischen Schriften veröffentlichte er eine anonyme Abhandlung über „Das Lottorecht“, 1771, und ein „Compendium artis relatoriae“, 1785.
