  • Biographical Presentation

    Als Dr. theol. wurde A. 1551 Dompfarrer in Mainz, 1554 Dekan der philosophischen Fakultät, 1557 Rektor der Universität, dann Kanzler und 1563 Dekan des Petersstiftes. Auf der Wiener Konferenz von 1503 wandte er sich als Mainzer Vertreter scharf gegen die vom Kaiser geforderte Priesterehe und den Laienkelch. Seine Ausgabe der Predigten J. Wilds kam auf den Index der verbotenen Bücher wegen seiner Namensgleichheit mit dem Reformator Johann A..
