  • Biographical Presentation

    Die Familie stammt aus dem Städtchen Kisch (Chiesch) bei Karlsbad. Hier waren Mitglieder der Familie als Apotheker tätig, desgleichen in Prag, wo die Familie in der 1. Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts ansässig geworden ist. Einige wanderten bei Ausweisung der Juden aus Böhmen 1744 nach Holland und von dort nach England aus. Zu deren Nachkommen gehören der Postminister für Indien, →Herman M. (1850–1942) und der britische General Frederick Herman (* 1888, ⚔ 1943). →Abraham (1725–1803) wurde als erster Jude aus Österreich zum doctor medicinae promoviert (Halle 1749) und war dann jüdischer Gemeindearzt in Prag.
