Biographical Presentation
Aus der in Langensalza (Thüringen) beheimateten Familie stammen unter anderem: →Aegidius (1617–67), Professor der orientalischen Sprachen am Gymnasium in Hamburg. Er gab das Neue Testament in syrischer Sprache heraus (1663/64) und ließ es in einer eigens eingerichteten Druckerei in seinem Hause drucken (s. ADB X). →August von G. (1798–1866) war sächsischer Oberst und verfaßte Schriften zur Geologie Sachsens (s. ADB X; Pogg. I, III).
