  • Biographical Presentation

    G. war vor allem als Klavierbauer durch den Hof weit über die Grenzen Sachsens bis Polen und Livland hochgeschätzt. Noch heute sind zwei sehr schöne 2-manualige Cembali von ihm erhalten, die sich durch ungemein sorgfältige Arbeit und prachtvoll silbrigen Klang auszeichnen und noch viel in Kammerkonzerten benutzt werden. Wahrscheinlich hat G. seit dem Beginn des Siebenjährigen Krieges auch schon Fortepianos gebaut, eine Tätigkeit, die sein Sohn Johann Gottfried und dessen Halbbruder Carl August in größerem Umfang und mit sichtbarem Erfolg fortsetzten.
