    Basler Familie, die einige in Rußland zu Bedeutung gelangte Mathematiker und Astronomen hervorgebracht hat: →Nikolaus (s. unten), seine Söhne →Paul Heinrich (1798–1855), Mathematiker, Mitglied der Akademie der Wissenschaften in Petersburg (1823), seit 1826 deren Beständiger Sekretar, Herausgeber nachgelassener Schriften Eulers, stellte dessen (unvollständige) Bibliographie zusammen, bemühte sich um Herausgabe der Gesammelten Werke →Eulers, und →Georg Albert (1806–54), seit 1839 Astronom an der Sternwarte in Pulkowa, seit 1848 Direktor der Sternwarte in Wilna, Verfasser astronomischer und hypsometrischer Arbeiten, und dessen Sohn Victor (* 1839), Astronom an der Sternwarte in Pulkowa, seit 1871 Vorsteher des Marineobservatoriums in Kronstadt.
