  • Biography

    A. betrieb 1483-89 eine kleine Presse zu Nürnberg, aus der vor allem deutschsprachige volkstümliche Schriftchen hervorgingen, war 1490/91 in Regensburg und 1492/93 in Bamberg tätig; in 4 von seinen 5 Bamberger Drucken ist Hans Bernecker als sein Gesellschafter genannt; dieser war wohl der Geldgeber und betrieb Pergamenthandel; die Werkstatt befand sich „in dem Zinkenwerd“ bzw. „pey der jüden schul“ (heute Habergasse). Die Texte brachte er offenbar aus Nürnberg mit („Legende von St. Sebald“); sie zeigen z. T. sozialkritischen Einschlag wie die Hans Sporers. In Ingolstadt (1496/97) war der Universitätspedell und Buchbinder →Georg Wyrffel sein Teilhaber, in Erfurt (1498) Heidericus A.. 1506 war er noch in Frankfurt/Oder tätig.
