  • Biographical Presentation

    A. übernahm nach dem Tode des Vaters die Leitung des Betriebes, den er zu hoher Blüte brachte. Neben der Tätigkeit für die Merians u. a. Verlage entwickelte er eine von Jahr zu Jahr steigende eigene Verlagstätigkeit, wobei nach Ausweis eines Verlagskataloges Bücher theologischen Inhalts überwogen. Auch als Bibeldrucker hat er sich einen Namen gemacht. Die Zusammenarbeit mit seinem Bruder Johann Nikolaus in Herborn war rege und fruchtbar. Als bedeutendster Drucker zu Frankfurt war er auch Vorsteher der dortigen Buchdruckergesellschaft. Der Wert seines Nachlasses soll 35-40 000 Gulden betragen haben.
