  • Biographical Presentation

    E. kam aus dem praktischen Forstdienst, war über 10 Jahre aktiver Soldat und wurde dann als Forstschutzbeamter mit der Bekämpfung der Wanderdünen in der Kurischen Nehrung beschäftigt. Versuchte man vorher das Wandern der Dünen durch Pflanzung der Sandgräser zu verhindern, so gelang es E., sie durch netzförmiges Bestecken mit Reisig oder Rohr (Bestrauchung) festzulegen und zu bepflanzen. Auf diese Weise wurden die Bruchberge bei Rossitten, die große Wanderdüne bei Pillkoppen und andere festgelegt und damit das Dorf Pillkoppen gerettet.
