    Das Basler Geschlecht führte früher den Namen Hebdenstreit (s. HBLS) und brachte viele Bankiers, Kaufleute und Theologen hervor. Seit dem 19. Jh. nennen sich alle La Roche. Dazu gehören u. a.: →Emanuel (1771–1849), Präsident des Appellationsgerichts, →Simon (1786–1861), Präsident der Basler Missionsgesellschaft 1838–54, →Hermann (1842–1921), Mitgründer und Verwaltungspräsident des Schweizer. Bankvereins, →Emanuel (1863–1922), Architekt u. Architekturschriftsteller, baute u. a. die Universitätsbibliothek Basel (s. ThB), →Maria (1870–1952), Malerin und Graphikerin (s. ThB), und →Robert (* 1877), Bankier, Präsident d. statist.-volkswirtsch. Gesellschaft.
