Biographical Presentation
Vorderösterr. Patriziergeschl. aus Freiburg, das den Namen Metzger trug. Der Diplomat →Johann Georg (1623–98) erlangte 1690 die Reichsritterwürde mit dem Prädikat „v. Metzburg“. Dessen Sohn Karl Joseph wurde in Anerkennung seiner Beteiligung beim Abschlußdes Friedens von Rijswijk 1714 in den Freiherrenstand erhoben.
