  • Biographical Presentation

    A. erwarb seine Bildung in Heidelberg, Basel, Ferrara, Tübingen und Ingolstadt, wurde 1487 Kanonikus in Ellwangen und 1502 gleichfalls in Augsburg; 1523-28 war er es in Eichstätt. Auch er war Humanist und gehörte dem Peutingerkreis an, besaß aber nicht die Bedeutung seines Bruders. In Verbindung mit J. Reuchlin, G. Spalatin und K. Leib hat er sich von Luther nach zeitweiliger Zuneigung weit entschiedener abgewandt als sein Bruder. So mußte er infolge der völligen Durchführung der Reformation in Augsburg 1537 mit dem gesamten Domkapitel die Stadt verlassen.
