    Fuß: Georg Albert v. F., Sohn, bez. Enkel der Petersburger Mathematiker Paul Heinr. und Nicolaus v. F., geb. zu Petersburg 1806 am 13. Dec. (a. St.), † zu Wilna 1854 am 5. Jan. (a. St.), war Astronom an der Hauptsternwarte zu Pulkowa (1839) und Director der Sternwarte zu Wilna seit 1848. Er selbst nannte als seine wichtigsten Arbeiten: „Geographische, magnetische und hypsometrische Bestimmungen auf einer Reise mit Bunge nach Sibirien und China 1830—32“. (Mém. acad. Pétersb. Sér. VI. Tom. III. 1838. F. begleitete als Astronom die geistliche Mission nach Peking.) „Beschreibung der zur Ermittelung des Höhenunterschiedes zwischen dem schwarzen und kaspischen Meere 1836 und 1837 von G. Fuß, A. Sawitsch und G. Sabler ausgeführten Messungen“, St. Petersburg 1849. (Herausgegeben von W. Struve.)— „Ueber eine Gleichung Biot's für die Refractionsdifferenz bei gegenseitigen Zenithdistanz-Beobachtungen“ (Bull. acad. Pétersb. IV. 1838). „Sur les causes et l'effet de l'inégale réfraction dans la mesure simultanée des hauteurs terrestres“ (Ib. V. 1839). „Bestimmungen der Refraction und Höhen zweier und mehrerer Berggipfel durch Beobachtungen von zwei Standpunkten aus“ etc. (Ib. id.).
