  • Biographical Presentation

    B., schon 1203 im zarten Kindesalter dem Pfalzgrafen →Otto von Wittelsbach, dem späteren Mörder ihres Vaters, versprochen, wurde nach dessen Ächtung 1208 auf Anraten der Fürsten mit →Otto IV. verlobt, welcher damit die staufischen Erbgüter und den bisherigen Anhang Philipps für sich gewann. Das überraschende Auftreten →Friedrichs II. in Deutschland führte zu der improvisierten Hochzeit von Nordhausen (1212), doch hatte bereits drei Wochen später der plötzliche Tod der Königin den vollständigen Abfall der Schwaben von der welfischen Sache zur Folge.
