  • Biographical Presentation

    Klein: Johann K., Professor der Geburtshülfe an der ärztlichen und Hebammenschule der Universität Wien, geb. am 25. März 1788 zu Deutschhause in Mähren, † am 1. April 1856 zu Wien. Er war der Sohn eines Müllers, absolvirte das Gymnasium in Olmütz, die medicinischen Studien an der Wiener Universität und wurde im J. 1815 daselbst klinischer Assistent. 1819 erfolgte seine Ernennung zum Professor der Geburtshülfe am Lyceum in Salzburg und von dort wurde er 1822 nach Wien in gleicher Eigenschaft versetzt, in welcher Stellung er bis zu seinem Tode verblieb. Ungefähr in die Mitte seiner Wirksamkeit fiel dann die Trennung der ärztlichen und Hebammenschule, mit letzterer wurde Professor Bartsch betraut. Von litterarischen Leistungen des Professors K. ist nichts bekannt.
