  • Biographical Presentation

    A. war einer der führenden Überseekaufleute Bremens, Mitbegründer der deutschen Dampfschiffahrtsgesellschaft „Hansa“, ein sich auch weiterhin im wirtschaftlichen und öffentlichen Leben vielfach betätigender Mann, als Mitglied der Bremer Bürgerschaft in der Deputation für die Korrektion der Unterweser führend tätig, u. a. bei der Vorbereitung des großen Hafenbaues in dem Bremen beim Zollanschluß 1888 zugestandenen Freibezirk; 1891 bis 1907 war er Senator.
