Calvör, Henning Calwer, Richard

  • Biographical Presentation

    Die C. waren im schwäbisch-fränkischen Grenzraum begütert. Ältester Sitz war Ingersheim, weitere Burgen waren Sindelfingen, Löwenstein (daher Wappen: Löwe auf Dreiberg, noch jetzt Stadtwappen von Calw und Vaihingen) und Wolfsölden. Sie gelten als Begründer der Waldhufendörfer auf der Hochfläche zwischen Enz und Nagold. →Adalbert (II.) († 1099), Schwestersohn des Papstes Leo IX. und Schwiegersohn des Herzogs Gottfried von Oberlothringen, verlegte das von ihm gegründete Doppelkloster Sindelfingen nach Hirsau (vor 1059). Sein Sohn Gottfried († 1133), seit 1113 Pfalzgraf bei Rhein, Schwiegersohn des Herzogs Berthold II. von Zähringen, einflußreich am Hofe Kaiser Heinrichs V., starb söhnelos. Mit dem Kampf um das Erbe zwischen dem|Neffen Adalbert IV. zu Löwenstein und dem Tochtermann Herzog Welf VI. beginnt der Niedergang des Geschlechts. Der letzte Namensträger war Gottfried († vor 1162). Die Löwensteiner Linie starb nach 1277, ein Seitenzweig, die Grafen von Vaihingen, 1361 aus.
