Biographical Presentation
Die pfälzische Pfarrer- und Professorenfamilie E. geht auf den zum Protestantismus übergetretenen Franziskanermönch Leonhard E. (†1583) aus Sittard im Herzogtum Jülich zurück, den Martin Bucer als Pfarrer in zweibrückische Dienste vermittelte. Sein Enkel Johann Heinrich (1582–1622), Pfarrer in Nünschweiler, ist der Verfasser einer „Methodus catethetica… “ (Herborn 1620), dessen Sohn Abraham (1609–1887), Rat und Schaffner in Bischweiler, übersetzte zeitgenössische französische Liebesromane ins Deutsche (Liebes-Geschichte der schönen Julia, Compaß der Liebe, beide Frankfurt/Main 1680). Sein Urenkel ist Friedrich Ludwig siehe (1). Zur gleichen Familie gehören: August (1858–1933), Architekt, Erbauer von Münchner Villenkolonien, und Julius (* 1863), Kunstmaler (siehe ThB).
