  • Biographical Presentation

    B. besuchte die Eisenacher Lateinschule und die Thomasschule in Leipzig, wo er dem Studium der Rechte oblag und bei seinem Patenonkel →Johann Sebastian B. „manches Jahr liebevolle Aufnahme“ fand. 1742 ging er als Organist nach Eisenach, zunächst als Stellvertreter seines Vaters und nach dessen Tod als Nachfolger. 1756 wurde er Kapellmeister der fürstlichen Hofkapelle in Weimar. Als Komponist trat er mit Kantaten, Orgel- und Klavierwerken sowie mit der Vertonung Gellertscher Reimfabeln (1749) hervor.
