  • Biographical Presentation

    Nach beruflicher Ausbildung in Berlin, Frankfurt/Main und Leyden war A. Hofapotheker in Hannover. Er ist von zeitbedingter Bedeutung als Chemiker durch seine mineralogischen Arbeiten, besonders aber als einer der ersten, der verschiedene Erdarten für die Landwirtschaft untersuchte. Für die Pharmazie waren seine Vorarbeiten für das erste amtliche Arzneibuch in Braunschweig, das „Dispensatorium Brunsvicense“ (1777), wichtig. Seine „Briefe aus der Schweiz“ (geschrieben 1763, erschienen Zürich 1776) und “Alchemistische Briefe“ (1767) enthalten zahlreiche pharmazeutisch interessante Vorschriften.

    Andreä: Johann Gerhard Reinhard A., Chemiker, geb. 17. Dec. 1724 zu Hannover, 1. Mai 1793 als Hofapotheker daselbst. Er studirte in Berlin, gewann auf Reisen in England etc die Freundschaft Muschenbrock's, Deluc's, Franklins, Gmelin's u. A. und richtete aus der Schweiz 1763 naturgeschichtliche Briefe an seine Freunde, die 1776 in Zürich gedruckt erschienen. Im Auftrage des Kurfürsten von Hannover untersuchte er eine beträchtliche Anzahl Erdarten und ihren Gebrauch für die Landwirthschaft (Hannover 1767). Andere chemische Aufsätze finden sich auch im hannoverschen Magazin. Sein Porträt bildet das Titelkupfer des 77. Bandes der Allg. Deutschen Bibliothek und sein Arzt Zimmermann rühmt ihm Liebenswürdigkeit und Wohlthätigkeit nach, die Krankheit und Vermögensverlust nicht zerstören konnten.
