  • Biographical Presentation

    Eynde: Jacob van den E. aus Delft, Advocat der Provinz Holland seit 1560, gehörte zu den katholischen, aber entschieden nationalgesinnten Regenten, welche sich 1566 der Regierung anschlossen, doch der Einführung der Inquisition sich widersetzten und dadurch den Zorn Philipps und Alba's hervorriefen. Wegen einer Bittschrift an die Regentin im Namen der Staaten ward er 1568 verhaftet und starb 1570 im Schloß Moorden, seiner Fähigkeit und Pflichttreue wegen von Allen beklagt.
