Biographical Presentation
Buslidius: Franz von Busleyden (Buschleyden, Bauschleiden, Boulaide) von einer seit dem 15. Jahrhundert bekannten luxemburgischen Familie, benannt nach ihrem Stammsitz im Norden des Landes; † zu Toledo 21. Aug. 1502. Er studirte zu Köln, Paris und Lyon. König Maximilian übertrug ihm die Erziehung Erzherzog Philipps und begabte ihn dafür mit bedeutenden Beneficien. B. ward Propst von S. Donatin zu Brügge, Dechant von Antwerpen, Canonicus von S. Simeon zu Trier und 1499 auf Maximilians Empfehlung Erzbischof von Besançon. Die Leitung des Stiftes übertrug er jedoch bald dem Dominicaner Joh. Favel, Bischof von Nazareth i. p., um kaiserlicher Anordnung gemäß den Erzherzog nach Spanien zu begleiten. Hier aber erlag er einem hitzigen Fieber.
