    Zimmermann: Christian Gottlieb Z., Mathematiker, geboren am 26. April 1766 in Königsberg i. Pr., † am 28. August 1841 in Berlin. Er besuchte die Schule, dann die Universität seiner Vaterstadt und stand insbesondere zu zwei Lehrern in innigem Verhältniß, zu dem Mathematiker Johannes Schulz (A. D. B. XXXII, 716—717, wo der Name aber Schultz geschrieben ist) und zu Immanuel Kant, der ihn seines besonderen Wohlwollens würdigte. Nachdem er an einer Königsberger Schule unterrichtet, dann ein halbes Jahr eine Hauslehrerstelle in Berlin bekleidet hatte, kam er 1795 an das Werder’sche Gymnasium in Berlin, dem er (seit 1821 als Director) bis 1837 angehörte. In den Jahren 1804 bis 1819 lehrte er daneben auch an der Bauakademie, 1816 bis 1832 an der Artillerieschule. Z. hat außer durch seine ersprießliche pädagogische Thätigkeit auch durch einige Lehrbücher sich bekannt gemacht.
