  • Biographical Presentation

    Amelius: Georg A., gebürtig aus Mähren ("Moravus") im Oct. 1541. Seinen deutschen Familiennamen „Achtsnicht“ oder „Achtsynit“ hat er gräcisirt. Er ist als Dr. iur. utr. am 30. Sept. 1521 in die Matrikel der Universität Freiburg eingetragen; erhielt hier am 1. Sept. 1523 die lectura ordinaria libri Sexti mit einem Gehalt von 60 Fl.; wurde 1525 erster Professor des canonischen Rechts; verwaltetete mehrere Male das Rectorat und ward vielfach in Geschäften der Universität verwendet. In einem Briefe an den Bischof von Wien, Friedrich Nausea (Grau) vom 16. Oct. 1538 beklagt er sich über seinen geringen Gehalt: „centum annuis aureis contentus pene consenui.“ (Epist. ad Fr. Nauseam libri 10. Basil. 1550 pag. 231). Mit Zasius befreundet, wird er in dessen Briefen öfter genannt. Ein Brief von A. an Zasius ist dessen Intellectus juris singul. Basil. 1526 Fol. eingedruckt. Zasii epistolae ed. Riegger.A. starb an der Pest. Er hinterließ zwei Söhne, Martin und Georg.
