  • Biographical Presentation

    Schmidl: Johann S., Jesuit, geb. zu Olmütz am 22. December 1693, † zu Prag am 13. März 1762. Er wurde 1710 Jesuit und 1743 als Geschichtschreiber der böhmischen Ordensprovinz bestellt. Seine „Historia Societatis Jesu Provinciae Bonemicae“ erschien in vier Foliobänden zu Prag 1747—59 und geht von 1555 bis 1653. Einige andere unbedeutende Schriften sind bei Meusel verzeichnet. — Ein anderer böhmischer Jesuit Johann Vespasian Schmidel, geb. am 10. März 1735 zu Joachimsthal, war Professor zu Breslau und hat eine mathematische Schrift verfaßt.
