    Roth: Nicolaus R. aus Altenburg, Verfasser einer fünfactigen Comödie „Kunz von Kaufungen“, in welcher der sächsische Prinzenraub, die gewaltsame Entführung der beiden Prinzen Ernst (s. A. D. B. VI, 301) und Albrecht von Sachsen (s. A. D. B. I, 314) aus dem Schlosse zu Altenburg in der Nacht vom 7. zum 8. Juli 1455, nicht ohne Geschick behandelt wird. Dieses Erstlingswerk des Verfassers, das 1585 entstand, wurde am 15. Mai 1589 am weimarschen Hofe aufgeführt. Gedruckt ist die Comödie, für welche R. fast ausschließlich die Meißensche Chronik des Petrus Albinus (Wittenberg 1580) benutzte, erst 1881 von Bruno Stübel aus einer Handschrift der deutschen Gesellschaft in Leipzig (in den Mittheilungen derselben Bd. VII, S. 29—112).
