Biographical Presentation
Müller: Johann Stephan M., geb. am 20. Juli 1730 zu Smalobuch im Schwarzburgischen, besuchte das Gymnasium zu Rudolstadt, studirte seit 1749 Theologie zu Jena, besonders unter Walch und Reusch, promovirte 1753 zum Magister, wurde 1756 Adjunet bei der philosophischen Facultät, 1758 Consistorial-Assessor in Rudolstadt, 1759 Licentiat der Theologie und außerordentlicher Professor der Philosophie in Jena. Im J. 1763 folgte er einem Rufe als ordentlicher Professor der Theologie nach Gießen, starb hier aber schon am 24. October 1768. Seine Stellung wird dadurch charakterisirt, daß er Gegner der Wolff’schen Philosophie und der Aufklärung war.
