Biographical Presentation
Kipping: Johann Wolfgang K., Rechtsgelehrter, wurde geboren zu Batreuth am 2. April 1695, studirte seit 1716 zu Jena, dann in Halle, wurde 1727 Rath und Archivar, 1728 Hofrath, 1735 entlassen, ging nach Jena als Privatdocent, 1737 nach Helmstädt als ordentlicher Professor des Staatsrechts und der Geschichte, promovirte 1740 als Doctor juris, wurde 1741 ordentlicher Lehrer und Beisitzer der Facultät, starb am 2. Februar 1747. — Er schrieb: „Prolusiones jur. eccles. recte constituendi s. comment. de sacerdotio novi foederis et de rationibus sacrorum solemnium, adj. est apologeticus pro Martino Luthero combusti juris canonici reo“, Helmst. (1744) 1755 und ein „Syntagma juris ecclesiastici“, Brunsvig. 1752, worin er aus naturrechtlichen und allgemeinen kirchlichen Principien das positive Recht herzuleiten sich bestrebt.
