  • Biographical Presentation

    Die Familie läßt sich bis ins 13. Jahrhundert in der Umgebung von Barntrup (Lippe) zurückverfolgen. Erwähnung verdienen: →Rembert (1474–1568), seit 1547 Bischof von Paderborn, setzte die Bestimmungen des Augsburger Interims in seiner Diözese durch, →Simon Bernhard (1646–1714), hessischer Generalleutnant, und →Ferdinand (1676–1754), seit 1719 Dompropst in Osnabrück, 1747 Statthalter des Hochstifts für EB →Clemens August von Köln. Franz (1530/31-76) war als Söldnerführer in Frankreich wohlhabend geworden, seine Frau →Anna geborene von Canstein (1536–91), erbaute auf dem Hof in Barntrup ein Schloß im Stil der Weserrenaissance.
