Biographical Presentation
Johann V., Bischof von Gurk (Schallermann, Schaldermann, Scholdermann), geb. ca. 1373, um 1412 Doctor des canonischen Rechtes und unter den artistischen Magistri regentes der Wiener Hochschule, später Propst zu Brixen, — 1436 zum Bischof von Gurk, welcher Stellung er 1453 entsagte und hoch an Jahren am 5. August 1465 starb. Er erscheint auf dem Konstanzer Concil, erfreute sich der besonderen Gunst Kaiser Friedrichs III. und empfing auch dessen Besuch 1444 zu Straßburg in Kärnten. Er spielte in dem Streite zwischen diesem Habsburger und den Cilliern 1436—43 eine wichtige Rolle als Gegner der letzteren.
