Biographical Presentation
Himmel: Johann H., am 27. December 1581 zu Stolpe in Pommern geboren, wurde, nachdem er seine theologischen Studien in Wittenberg, Jena und Gießen absolvirt und hernach Süddeutschland, die Schweiz, Elsaß und die Pfalz bereist hatte, zunächst Rector zu Durlach, hernach Gymnasiarch und Prediger zu Speyer und schließlich Professor der Theologie zu Jena, als welcher er am 31. März 1642 starb. Er hat vielerlei Dogmatisches und Polemisches geschrieben (s. Jöcher). Ueberall tritt in seinen Schriften der extrem-lutherische Standpunkt hervor. Für die Wissenschaft kommen sie kaum noch in Betracht.
