Bartholomäus Anglicus Bartholomäus von Maastricht

  • Biographical Presentation

    B. trat in das Straßburger Kloster ein, wurde 1350 vom Generalkapitel des Ordens an die Universität Paris berufen, leitete 1354-62 die Ordensprovinz Teutonia und war ein Gönner des Mystikers →Heinrich Seuse. Er wird als Magister S. Palatii bezeugt, kann dies aber nur in den letzten Monaten seines Lebens gewesen sein. In einer Wolfenbütteler Handschrift wird er de Brisaco genannt. 1357 schrieb er für die Mendikanten eine Verteidigungsschrift gegen den Erzbischof Richard Fitz Ralph von Armagh (1346–60).
