Biographical Presentation
Freiesleben: Gottfried Christian F., Hofrath und Bibliothekar zu Gotha, geb. 7. April 1716 zu Altenburg, gest. 24. Juni 1774 zu Gotha, studirte die Rechte zu Jena und wurde 1736 Privatsecretär des Grafen Friesen zu Dresden und 1738 des Grafen Gotter zu Molsdorf. 1740 wurde er Bibliothekar, später Hofrath zu Gotha. Unter seinen Schriften sind hervorzuheben die „Memoria Weberorum, virtute et eruditione clarorum“ (1731), „Falschheit der neuen Propheten“ (1751—58. 4 Stücke, anonym), „Maximes de morale“ (1759), und vor allem „Nachlese zu Gottsched's Vorrath zur Geschichte der deutschen dramatischen Dichtkunst“ (1760).
