  • Biographical Presentation

    Seit 1563 in Ulm ansässig, arbeitete B. 1565 in der städtischen Steinmetzhütte, bald jedoch selbständig als angesehener Maurermeister, befreundet mit dem Ulmer Bildschnitzer Hans Ammann. Seinen Bauten, insbesondere Patrizierhäusern, gaben Doppelgiebel ungleicher Höhe, ornamentaler Sgraffitoputz an den Außenwänden und Stuckdekorationen an Gewölben und Stubendecken ein malerisches, schmuckreiches Gepräge von ungewöhnlicher Eigenart. B. war zuletzt „Meister in Unser Frauen Hütte“, d. h. beim Ulmer Münsterbauamt.
