  • Biographical Presentation

    Unter französischer Herrschaft wurde F. 1809 Sousingénieur des mines und kam zur Weserdivision nach Rodenberg. 1812 wurde er als Vérificateur ambulant der Elbdivision nach Rothenburg/Saale, dem damaligen Sitz eines Oberbergamtes, versetzt. Unter preußischer Oberhoheit war F. seit 1815 als Direktor des Salzamtes zu Schönebeck/Elbe (1851 Geheime(r) Bergrat) tätig. Er erfand das nach ihm benannte Freifallstück, das beim Tiefbohren das Untergestänge einer Rutschschere von dem Obergestänge möglichst unabhängig machte und das er in Karstens und von Dechens Archiv (22. Band, 1848, S. 207) selbst beschrieben hat. Seine Erfindung hat in der Tiefbohrtechnik allgemeine Anerkennung und weite Verbreitung gefunden. Am Todestage des Erfinders soll zum 1. Male mit Hilfe des Freifallstückes Salz erbohrt worden sein.
