  • Biographical Presentation

    Die Familie hieß ursprünglich Ermatinger und läßt sich auf Andreas Ermatinger († 1579), Glasmaler und Mitglied des Großen Rats in Schaffhausen, zurückführen. Über Mühlhausen (wo sie sich Ermend, dann Erman nannte) kam ein Zweig als Kürschner und Handschuhmacher nach Berlin. Stammverwandt ist der Literarhistoriker Emil Ermatinger († 1953, siehe NDB IV).
