Biographical Presentation
Der vor allem im hess. Militärdienst stehenden Familie wurde 1800 der Reichsadel bestätigt. Zu ihr gehören: →Heinrich August (1717–93), hessen-kassel. Generalleutnant, dessen Sohn →Friedrich Wilhelm (1776–1848), kurhess. Generalleutnant und Kriegsminister (s. ADB 19), →Friedrich Wilhelm (1720–1800), hessen-kassel. Generalleutnant, Führer der hess. Hilfstruppen in Nordamerika 1782/83, und →Karl (1804–85), kurhess. Generalleutnant, 1866 Oberbefehlshaber der Armee (s. L). →Otto (1866–1914) war Herausgeber und Chefredakteur der „Militärpolitischen Korrespondenz“ (s. DBJ I, Tl.).
