    Edlinger: Karl Franz E., Maler, geboren zu Dresden 1785, † ebenda 1823; studirte auf der Akademie seiner Vaterstadt unter Pochmann und wurde später Zeichnenlehrer an genannter Anstalt. Er malte hauptsächlich Bildnisse, insbesondere Miniaturporträts, welche aber kaum mehr als einen nur subjectiven Werth für den Besitzer haben und auch meistens bereits verschollen sind. Von historischen Compositionen des Künstlers ist nur eine einzige Arbeit, Ariadne auf Naxos darstellend, bekannt geworden. E. hatte einen Bruder, Moritz Gottlob E. und einen Sohn, Johann Moritz E., welche sich ebenfalls, jedoch ohne jede Erfolge, mit der Malerei beschäftigten.
