    Droop: Hermann Eduard D., Dr. med., Medicinalrath und Stadtphysicus in Osnabrück, Sohn des dortigen Stadtphysicus Johann Daniel D., geb. 28. Aug. 1802 und 5. Juli 1876. Als Arzt (seit 1824) und Medicinalbeamter in verschiedenen Stellungen (1833 Armenarzt, 1840 Stadtphysicus, 1854 Dirigent des städtischen Krankenhauses) außerordentlich thätig und um seine Vaterstadt verdient (z. B. bei Errichtung des neuen Krankenhauses 1862/64), hat er sich wissenschaftlich durch zwei in ätiologischer Hinsicht nicht uninteressante kleine Schriften über die 1859 und 1866 in Osnabrück herrschenden Cholera-Epidemien bekannt gemacht. Er promovirte in Göttingen auf Grund einer „Diss. de respiratione“ am 4. Febr. 1823 unter dem Decanate Blumenbach's, welcher genau 30 Jahre zuvor (4. Febr. 1793) bei der Promotion von Droop's Vater ( 1839) in gleichem Amte sungirt hatte.
