Biographical Presentation
Im 16. Jahrhundert der Salzgewerkschaft in Sulz angehörende, zu Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts nach Calw gekommene hervorragende Kaufmannsfamilie, die in langer Folge gewichtige „Compagnieverwandte“ der Calwer Zeughandelscompagnie stellte. Johann Jakob (um 1575 bis 1638), erster Compagnieverwandter, war Mitbegründer von J. V. Andreäs christlichgottliebender Gesellschaft. Sein Enkel →Mose (1671–1737), Zentralfigur des halleschen Pietismus in Calw, eröffnete 1721 die Firma Mose D. & Co., die über ein Jahrhundert hindurch im Schwarzwald Bergwerke betrieb und in „Schmalte“-Fabriken Kobaltfarben produzierte, auch an der Calwer Holzhandelsgesellschaft von 1755 beteiligt war.
