  • Biographical Presentation

    Zander: Johann Wilhelm Z., Missionar und Prediger der Brüdergemeine, wurde am 25. Juli 1716 in Quedlinburg geboren und erhielt seine|theologische Ausbildung im Seminar der Brüdergemeine. Im J. 1741 folgte er Büttner nach Nordamerika und war dann in den Jahren 1742—1761 als Missionar in Surinam thätig. Nach seiner Rückkehr nach Europa diente er der Gemeine als Prediger in Holland, wo er am 19. Juni 1782 in Blockzyl starb. In dem heute im Gebrauch befindlichen Gesangbuch der evangelischen Brüdergemeine rührt die erste und dritte Strophe des Liedes Nr. 814: „Heilger Kirchenfürste, deine Schar der Wahl ruft“ von ihm her.
