    Bebius: Philipp B., geb. zu Oreppe im Lüttich’schen 1568, † zu Köln 16. Febr. 1637. Im J. 1589 in Köln bei den Jesuiten als Novize eingetreten, ward er Lehrer am Gymnasium und nachmals am Mariencolleg daselbst, gehörte auch der philos. Facultät der Universität an, als deren Decan er 1597 erscheint. Um die gleiche Zeit ward er Regens des großen Seminars. Die für ihre Zeit wichtigste seiner gelehrten Arbeiten ward erst 1647 von Crombach herausgegeben: „Vindiciae Ursulanae seu tomus prior, quo primigenia historia S. Ursulae et undecim millium virginum cum traditione Coloniensi contra adversarios (d. h. hauptsächlich gegen Baronius) asseritur.“ Seine anderen histor.-philol. Werke sind verzeichnet in De Backer, Biblioth. des écriv. de la Comp. de Jésus. I. 54.
