Glandorp, Johann Glanner, Kaspar

  • Biographical Presentation

    Glandorp: Matthias G., Arzt, ist den 18. Januar 1596 in Köln geboren. Er hatte zuerst in seiner Vaterstadt, später in Bremen, zuletzt in Padua die Heilkunde studirt, hier im J. 1617 die Doctorwürde erlangt und im Jahre darauf sich als Arzt in Bremen habilitirt. In Anerkennung seiner Leistungen wurde er hier zum Stadtphysicus und im J. 624 zum bischöflichen Leibarzte ernannt; er starb im J. 1636. — Litterarisch ist G. nur auf dem Gebiete der Chirurgie thätig gewesen; seine Schriften ("Speculum chirurgicum etc.", Brem. 1619. — „Tract. de polypo narium etc.", ib. 1628. — „Methodus medendi paronychiae“, ib. 1625. — „Gazophylacium polyphesium etc.“, ib. 1632), die im Geschmacke seiner Zeit an einem Luxus von Gelehrsamkeit leiden, denen ein praktischer Werth aber nicht abgesprochen werden kann, sind in einer Gesammtausgabe London 1729 erschienen, der eine kurze Lebensbeschreibung Glandorp's voraufgeht.
