Biographical Presentation
Gotthard: Johann Christian G., Technolog. Zeit und Ort der Geburt unbekannt, † am 8. Juni 1813 in Erfurt. Er war ordentlicher Professor der Oekonomie, Polizei- und Cameralwissenschaften an der (1816 aufgehobenen) Universität genannter Stadt, zugleich Assessor der Commerz-Deputation daselbst, und entwickelte großen litterarischen Fleiß. Sein Hauptwerk ist das „Handbuch der praktischen (chemischen) Technologie“, 2 Bde., 1804—5. Außerdem schrieb er: „Deutschlands Manufaktur-, Fabrik- und Handelspflanzen". 1811, und eine Anzahl kleinerer Schriften über Gegenstände der Land- und Gartenwirthschaft, als: „Bienenzucht (1795), „Kultur des unechten Akazienbaums" (1796), „Kultur und Benutzung des türkischen Weizens oder Mais" (1797), „Erziehung und Behandlung der Obstbäume" (1798), „Federviehzucht“ (1798), „Pferdezucht“ (1800), u. m. a.
