Boll: Dr. Ernst B., geb. 21. Sept. 1817 zu Neubrandenburg, † daselbst 20. Jan. 1868. Er ist der Begründer der naturforschenden Gesellschaft in Mecklenburg und der Naturforschung daselbst überhaupt. — Redigirte 1847—68 das Archiv des Vereins der Freunde der Naturgeschichte (fast allein von ihm geschrieben) und verfaßte außerdem viele naturwissenschaftliche Aufsätze, namentlich botanische und geologische, in verschiedenen Zeitschriften. Ferner: „Abriß der physischen Geographie“ 1850 (2. Aufl. 1859; ins Dänische und Holländische übersetzt). — „Die Insel Rügen“. 1858. —"Flora von Mecklenburg". 1860. — „Abriß der Mecklenb. Landeskunde“. 1861. — „Geschichte von Mecklenburg“. 2 Bde. 1855. 1856.
