    Brandis: Johann Friedrich B., Publicist, geb. 11. Sept. 1760 zu Hildesheim, wo sein Vater Hofgerichts-Advocat war, † 9. (nach Schlichtegroll 6.) Mai 1790. Er studirte seit 1779 in Göttingen unter Pütter, promovirte daselbst 1784 mit der Dissertation „De vera ordinis succedendi ex maioratu notione ex pactis familiarum illustrium repetenda“ und wurde 1785 außerord. Professor der Rechte. Von einer dreijährigen gelehrten Reise nach Wetzlar,|Regensburg und Wien im November 1787 zurückgekehrt, wurde er in das Spruchcollegium der Juristen-Facultät als außerordentlicher Beisitzer aufgenommen. Er las über Reichsproceß, deutsches Staatsrecht und canonisches Recht, Seine litterarische Thätigkeit beschränkt sich auf wenige staatsrechtliche Abhandlungen, welche Pütter anführt. Seine letzte Schrift: „Ueber das reichsritterschaftliche Staatsrecht und dessen Quellen“, 1788, ist auch wieder abgedruckt in Koppe's Niedersächsischem Archiv für Jurisprudenz und juristische Litteratur II, 356 ff. 1788.
