    E. war bis 1862 Schülerin von M. Andriessen und S. Marchesi an der Wiener Akademie für Musik und Darstellende Kunst und debütierte 1864 als Nancy (Martha) am Linzer Landestheater. Nach einem Engagement in Graz 1865 und Gastrollen unter anderem in Hannover sang sie 1865/66 am Nürnberger Stadttheater. Nach weiterem Studium bei →P. Viardot-Garcia gab sie ein Gastspiel an der Wiener Hofoper und wurde Ende 1866 nach Stuttgart verpflichtet. 1868-85 gehörte sie der Wiener Hofoper an, seit 1869 als Kammersängerin. Ihr Rollengebiet umfaßte die Selica (Afrikanerin), Pamina (Zauberflöte), Agathe (Freischütz), Cherubin (Figaro), Evchen (Meistersinger), Elisabeth (Tannhäuser) und Sieglinde (Walküre); das dunkle Timbre ihres Soprans ermöglichte ihr auch die Carmen, die Leonora (Favoritin) und den Maffio Orsini (Lukretia). Die Gabe dieser großen Sängerin, sich in die Stilrichtung jeder Rolle ihres breiten Repertoires einzufühlen, war ungewöhnlich. In einer melodramatischen Fassung von Byrons „Manfred“ trat sie als Astarte neben L. Wüllner 1918 noch einmal vor das Wiener Publikum.
