  • Biographical Presentation

    Seit 1902 Professor, wurde B. 1904 zum Vorsteher der pathologischen Abteilung des hygienischen Institutes in Posen ernannt. 1911 folgte er einem Ruf als Professor für pathologische Anatomie nach Zürich, wo er bis zu seinem Tode 1922 als Direktor der pathologischen Anstalt wirkte. Seine Untersuchungen erstreckten sich vor allem auf die Histologie der Entzündung. Bekannt wurde B. hauptsächlich durch die Erforschung der Saccharomykose, 1894 entdeckte er die ersten pathogenen Hefen.
